Yoga Poses for Abdominal Strength

Often times people think of yoga as stretching but it’s actually an amazing modality to increase strength as well!

Poses that improve your abdominal strength include those that incorporate balance because the core must be engaged for exercises like this!

Tree Pose
Bring the sole of your left foot to your inner-right thigh. (Try to do this without using your hands.) Bring your hands into a prayer position extended overhead.  Make sure to engage your abdominal muscles to assist with balance and get the most from this pose.  Hold here up to five breaths, switch sides.
